[A positron was "confined" for several months for the first time] On October 22, an antimatter particle was "confined" for several months for the first time. The Northwestern University research team trapped a captured positron (the antimatter counterpart of the electron) in a special trap, cooled it to a quantum state close to absolute zero and was unable to contact ordinary matter. As a result, it remained for several months without annihilation. This provides the most rigorous experimental platform to date for testing the symmetry of electrons and positrons. A related paper was published in Physical Review Letters on the 21st.
