[Agency: Global PC shipments fell 21% in the third quarter of 2026 as demand for advance purchases weakens] "Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily" reported on the 22nd that Omdia's latest research shows that in the third quarter of 2026, global shipments of desktops, laptops and workstations fell sharply, down 21.2% year-on-year to 58.1 million units. Desktop computer shipments (including desktop workstations) fell 23.5% to 11.7 million units; notebook computer shipments (including mobile workstations) fell 20.6% to 46.4 million units. "This sharp decline in shipments is not surprising after continued advance purchase activity supported the PC market in the first half of the year," said Ishan Dutt, research director at Omdia. Omdia predicts that the PC market will decline by 24% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2026, and is expected to decline by a further 7% throughout 2027.
