[Chile: Five lithium mine projects will be initially approved next year and five more will be tendered] On October 23, Chilean Minister of Economy and Mining Daniel Mas said in an interview during London LME Week that Chile plans to launch bidding for five new lithium mine projects after the existing five lithium mine projects are approved, with the goal of increasing annual lithium production from about 300,000 tons to 700,000 tons within 5 to 10 years. Chile's previous production target was to reach 430,000 tons by 2034, and the 700,000 tons given by Mas were 270,000 tons higher than this figure.
