[The U.S. Department of Justice requires California officials to verify the identity of voters. Those who do not cooperate may be censored] October 25th. On October 24, local time, a reporter from CCTV learned that the U.S. Department of Justice has sent letters to election officials in all 58 counties in California, requesting them to assist in verifying the U.S. citizenship status of relevant persons on the federal government’s list within 48 hours, and to temporarily store mailed ballots of those whose identities have not been confirmed separately until the verification is completed. The Justice Department warned that local officials who refused to cooperate could face intense scrutiny from the federal government. The Justice Department believes that some people on the list may not be legally eligible to register as voters. The individuals were among about 20,000 suspected non-U.S. citizens identified by the Justice Department last week in California who may have received ballots. In addition, the White House is pushing federal agencies to expedite reviews of voter registration lists obtained by the Department of Homeland Security in at least 47 states. (CCTV News)
