[Shanghai Petrochemical’s 1.2 million tons/year ethylene plant starts construction] On October 26, Jiemian News learned from Shanghai Petrochemical that on October 25, the 1.2 million tons/year ethylene plant, the main unit of Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical’s comprehensive technical transformation and upgrading project, officially started construction. This project is a major engineering project in Shanghai and is expected to be completed by the end of October 2028. At the same time, Shanghai Petrochemical will shut down its existing 700,000 tons/year ethylene unit. Shanghai Petrochemical invested approximately 20 billion yuan in a comprehensive technological transformation and quality improvement project, building 15 new units within the existing plant area, renovating 5 units, and shutting down 18 units.
