["Jiaolong" achieves iterative upgrades and successfully completes 7,000-meter sea trial] On October 27, reporters learned from the "Deep Sea No. 1" ship on the 27th that the "Jiaolong" manned submersible, which has achieved its second iterative upgrade, recently conducted multiple 7,000-meter submersible tests in the Philippine Sea Basin and returned safely, successfully completing the 7,000-meter sea trial of the national key research and development plan "Jiaolong's key operational technical capabilities and scientific application." It is understood that this sea trial relied on the scientific investigation of the second leg of China's Ocean 100 voyage. The "Jiaolong" has successively carried out three dive tests in the Philippine Sea Basin, two of which reached a depth of more than 7,000 meters, with a maximum dive depth of 7,056.9 meters. All test indicators met the 7,000-meter sea trial requirements. "This fully verifies the reliability and safety of the 'Jiaolong' after iterative upgrades and localization of key components, and consolidates and improves China's technological advantages in the field of manned deep-sea equipment." said Sun Yongfu, a researcher at China's National Deep Sea Base Management Center.
