[S&P Global: Asian LNG prices may rise to US$30 if Hormuz risk persists] On October 27, Megan Jenkins, senior chief analyst of Asia LNG at S&P Global Energy, said that if the supply of shipping capacity in the Strait of Hormuz continues to be tight after the New Year, the average Asian LNG spot price in January and February may rise to US$30/million British thermal units. Jenkins told the International Energy Week conference in Singapore on Tuesday that under this scenario, prices may fall back to about $20 per million British thermal units as demand enters the low season from March to May. If supply from Qatar resumes in January, prices will fall to about $10/MMBtu next year during the off-peak demand season. S&P Global expects the average price from October to December to be about $26/million British thermal units.
