[Porsche has used fully recycled cathode active materials to manufacture battery cells for the first time] On October 27, Porsche announced the latest progress of the high-voltage battery recycling pilot project: for the first time, it has used fully recycled cathode active materials to manufacture battery cells with partners such as German recycling company cylib, including lithium, nickel, cobalt and manganese. The relevant raw materials are all recycled from Porsche’s scrapped high-voltage batteries, and the battery cells manufactured in the pilot project are currently undergoing various actual operation tests. According to Porsche, starting from May 2026, scrapped high-voltage batteries collected by Porsche centers across Germany will be recycled using an innovative water-based process, and recycled raw materials can be tracked through a dedicated material account. From 2028, these materials will be available to Porsche and selected partners for the production of new battery cells.
