The Committee continues its policy of maintaining adequate reserves in the banking system. U.S. economic activity is expanding at a strong pace. Domestic spending has been resilient, although uncertainty remains elevated partly due to geopolitical developments. Productivity growth is strong and capital investment is robust. Employment growth has kept pace with the labor force, while the unemployment rate has also been little changed. Inflation remains high. The accumulation of more information will help the Committee determine the appropriate policy stance to ensure that inflation returns to the Committee's 2 percent objective in a timely manner. The Commission will achieve price stability. Voting against this monetary policy action were Lisa Cook and Beth Hammack, who advocated a 25 basis point increase in the federal funds rate target range at this meeting.
