[The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce responded to a reporter’s question on the United States’ inclusion of Chinese companies on the so-called entity list of the Xinjiang-related bill] On October 29, a spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce responded to a reporter’s question on the United States’ inclusion of Chinese companies on the so-called entity list of the Xinjiang-related bill. Q: On October 28, EST, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that it would add three Chinese entities to the entity list of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act. What is China’s comment on this?
A: We have noticed the relevant situation. There is no forced labor in China. People of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang have free and equal employment opportunities, and their labor rights and interests are effectively protected in accordance with the law. The relevant US measures have no factual basis. The US continues to manipulate the "human rights" issue and engages in unilateral protectionism and bullying under the guise of "human rights". China strongly condemns this and firmly opposes it.
The United States has recently included a large number of Chinese entities in the so-called Entity List of the Xinjiang-related Act. China has made stern representations to the United States and will resolutely counterattack. However, the United States was unrepentant and continued to implement new sanctions in spite of China's firm opposition, including Chinese biomedical technology companies on the sanctions list. The U.S.'s listing of goods deviates from the consensus reached by the two heads of state, seriously undermines the stability of Sino-U.S. economic and trade relations, and goes against the humanitarian spirit. The United States should immediately stop political manipulation and smear attacks, and stop its unreasonable suppression of Chinese companies. China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its own interests.
