[The United States says 17 million barrels of crude oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday] September 2, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright told reporters on his way to Venezuela that 17 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. According to a spokesman for the U.S. Department of Energy, this is the largest number since the conflict began. A further 4 million to 5 million barrels of crude are bypassing the strait via pipeline, pushing crude shipments on Monday above pre-war levels, the spokesman said. Wright said the current average is 8 million barrels per day.
