[Iran says four oil tankers illegally crossing the Strait exploded] October 31, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Navy announced on the evening of October 30 local time that the fourth oil tanker hit a mine, exploded and caught fire while illegally sailing in the Strait of Hormuz that afternoon. The tanker, carrying more than 2 million barrels of crude oil, ignored radio warnings from the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy and attempted to leave the unauthorized channel in the southern Strait of Hormuz at the instigation of the U.S. military. The Revolutionary Guards said this was the fourth oil tanker to catch fire in the Strait of Hormuz since early that morning. (CCTV International News)
