[OPEC + seven countries decided to maintain the crude oil production cap in December at the current level] The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) released news after the meeting on Sunday that the OPEC + seven countries (Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan and Oman) have decided that the crude oil production cap in December will be maintained at the previously established levels from September to November. "The participants from the seven countries decided to extend the production arrangement originally scheduled for September 2026 to December 2026," the report said.
Since September, the seven OPEC+ countries have further raised the daily crude oil production limit by 188,000 barrels without taking into account the "overproduction compensation plan". However, this production level does not take into account another decision previously made by the alliance-that is, to extend the compensation period for previous excess oil production to December 2026. The last round of compensation schedule expired at the end of June, and the new compensation plan has not yet been announced. With the production cap being pushed up to 31.01 million barrels per day in September, these seven participants have officially completed the entire process of exiting voluntary production restrictions.
