[The output value of emerging pillar industries is expected to exceed 10 trillion yuan by the end of the "15th Five-Year Plan"] On November 3, reporters learned from the "Strengthening the '15th Five-Year Plan'" series of press conferences held today by the National Development and Reform Commission that China's emerging pillar industries currently have a considerable scale, with an output value of nearly 6 trillion yuan last year. R&D investment is growing rapidly, new technologies and new products are constantly emerging, and the scale of the industry is accelerating. In the first three quarters of this year, integrated circuit output reached 442.8 billion units, a year-on-year increase of 23.3%; external technology licensing of innovative drugs amounted to approximately US$130 billion, which is close to the level of the whole of last year. By the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan, the output value of emerging pillar industries is expected to double to more than 10 trillion yuan, becoming an important force supporting high-quality economic development.
