[Bombay Stock Exchange is negotiating with investors to increase closing call auction activity] September 2, a senior executive of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) revealed on Wednesday that the exchange is communicating with high-frequency trading institutions and other market participants. Such institutions have not participated in India’s newly launched closing call auction mechanism. Sundararaman Ramamurthy, CEO of the Bombay Stock Exchange, said in an interview: "Liquidity is the key to the success of the closing call auction mechanism. At present, the development of the mechanism is not as expected, and neither retail investors nor high-frequency trading institutions are participating." Ramamurthy said that if the two exchanges can share an order book, it is expected to increase the participation and liquidity of the closing call auction, while optimizing the price discovery function.
