[Li Qiang meets with Deng Hongsen, Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization] On the afternoon of November 4, Premier Li Qiang met with Deng Hongsen, Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Li Qiang said that in recent years, China and the World Intellectual Property Organization have carried out fruitful cooperation in the fields of global intellectual property services, information technology, human resources and other fields. At present, the world's economic growth is sluggish, and the value of intellectual property rights, as a basic guarantee for stimulating innovation and empowering development, has become increasingly prominent. China will conscientiously implement President Xi Jinping’s important remarks on intellectual property and is willing to work with the World Intellectual Property Organization to promote deeper and more practical cooperation between the two parties, promote international cooperation on intellectual property, and make greater contributions to the world’s innovative development and common prosperity.
Li Qiang pointed out that China is willing to play a greater role in global intellectual property governance and will continue to support the work of the World Intellectual Property Organization, constructively participate in the modernization and reform process of the global intellectual property service system, actively discuss with all parties on topics such as artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technologies within the framework of the organization, and promote the advancement and optimization of international intellectual property rules with the times. China is willing to continue to cooperate with the World Intellectual Property Organization in capacity building for countries in the Global South, actively share useful experiences, contribute more public goods, and implement the "Belt and Road" cooperation agreement so that the results of intellectual property development will benefit all parties. It is hoped that the World Intellectual Property Organization will continue to support the development of China’s intellectual property cause, build more exchange and cooperation platforms, and provide more convenient and high-quality services to Chinese intellectual property users.
Deng Hongsen expressed congratulations on China’s significant development achievements in intellectual property. China ranks among the top ten in the world in the Global Innovation Index. It has the largest number of top 100 innovation clusters in the world, and its innovative economy such as movies and games is advancing rapidly. China's intellectual property development experience provides useful reference for other countries. The World Intellectual Property Organization looks forward to further deepening cooperation with China, and is willing to promote "Belt and Road" cooperation, implement the Global Development Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, build an intellectual property ecosystem that benefits the world, and promote scientific and technological innovation and economic development.
