[Some Chinese banks have suspended some bank-securities transfer services in Hong Kong. Response: Adjustments made in response to notifications from brokers] November 6th: Recently, the Hong Kong Branch of China Merchants Bank issued a notice stating that it will suspend the bank-securities transfer services of Soochow Securities International Brokerage Co., Ltd. and China Merchants Securities International Brokerage Co., Ltd. from 4:00 pm on November 30 until further notice.
The Hong Kong Branch of China Merchants Bank exclusively responded to reporters saying that the bank had earlier received notice from relevant securities firms requesting the suspension of cooperation in bank-securities transfer business between the two parties. After consultation with securities firms, the bank issued a 30-day advance notice to affected customers in accordance with the relevant requirements of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, so that customers can make appropriate arrangements in advance and choose other transfer channels.
This is not a recent case in which Chinese banks in Hong Kong have suspended direct bank-securities transfer services with securities firms. Previously, Minsheng Bank Hong Kong Branch had also gradually adjusted its relevant business cooperation with some Chinese-funded and local securities companies in Hong Kong. (Reporter Zou Juntao)
