[Israeli opposition leader says “significant progress” has been made in forming a government] November 7, 2020. Former Israel Defense Forces chief of staff and leader of the Integrity Party, Gadi Eisenkot, said on the 6th that he has made “significant progress” in forming a government and is expected to receive authorization to form a government next week. Eisenkot, who leads the opposition camp, posted on social media that he will establish a government based on the following four principles: recognizing Israel as a "Jewish democratic state"; accepting the values of the Israeli Declaration of Independence; implementing a universal compulsory military service; identifying the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) as a "terrorist organization" and committing to dismantling its military and governance capabilities. Eisenkot said he plans to contact all factions in parliament and recruit political parties and members who agree with the above principles to join the government. (CCTV News)
