[The U.S. Department of Justice and Cook request to suspend the removal lawsuit, pending a hearing at the White House next month] On November 7, lawyers for the U.S. Department of Justice and Federal Reserve Board Governor Lisa Cook requested that a federal judge continue to put aside Trump’s legal dispute over his attempt to remove her from office, pending a hearing scheduled for the White House next month. The Justice Department and Cook's legal team submitted a brief joint report to U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb on Friday, saying the court should pause the upcoming deadlines and that they would update the judge again in early January. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled this summer that Trump failed to give Cook a legitimate opportunity to defend herself before he first tried to oust her last year. The justices allowed Cook to remain in office temporarily and sent the case back to Cobb. In August, Trump restarted his campaign to oust her.
