[ByteDance will receive a syndicated loan of approximately US$29.6 billion] On September 3, ByteDance will receive a syndicated loan of US$29.6 billion. It is understood that ByteDance initially planned to raise US$20 billion, but due to enthusiastic subscriptions from banks, the scale was eventually expanded to US$29.6 billion. Funds are used primarily for general corporate purposes. The deal has not yet been officially signed and banks are still confirming allocations. When completed, the loan will be Asia's second-largest dollar-denominated syndicated loan this year, behind SoftBank Group Corp.'s $40 billion bridge loan in March. ByteDance is accelerating investment in AI and is considering increasing capital expenditures in 2026 to a maximum of US$70 billion, which is more than double last year, mainly for the expansion of data centers and other AI infrastructure. ByteDance’s last large-scale overseas loan occurred in 2024, raising approximately US$10.8 billion. As of press time, Bytedance has not responded. (China Business News)
