[Report: Global AI computing power is soaring, exacerbating pressure on water resources. "Water energy synergy" has become a new track for competition in green computing power] On September 3, a newly released industry research report titled "Green Development Report on Water Energy in Computing Infrastructure Fluid Systems in the AI Era" pointed out that with the explosive growth of artificial intelligence technology, the rapid expansion of computing power infrastructure is exacerbating the pressure on energy and water supply. "The mismatch between water resource utilization efficiency and the expansion speed of computing power scale further amplifies the contradiction between water supply and demand in local areas." The report believes that the core competitiveness in the AI era has shifted from a simple competition in computing power scale to a comprehensive competition in the collaborative utilization capabilities of computing power, energy and water resources. The report proposes for the first time a three-layer technical capability system of "architecture layer - equipment layer - platform layer" for fluid systems, as well as seven core technical propositions: distributed on-demand transmission and distribution, leakage risk classification, waste heat recovery and utilization, intelligent pump control collaboration, multi-layer redundant fault tolerance, data closed-loop regulation and media full life cycle management, providing a clear technical path for the computing power center to evolve from single-point energy saving to system optimization. The report emphasizes that the focus of green development of computing power infrastructure has expanded from single energy efficiency optimization to a coordinated balance of computing power growth, resource utilization and operational resilience.
