[Chuzhou, Anhui Province responded to the loud noise in the sky: It was initially determined to be a high-altitude sonic boom] On September 4th, the Chuzhou Municipal Emergency Management Bureau issued a document stating that at around 8:10 pm on September 4th, a shaking sound was heard in the sky over Chuzhou. After investigation, earthquakes, mine explosions and other production safety accidents have been ruled out. After understanding, it was initially determined to be a high-altitude sonic boom. The general public is asked not to panic, not to spread rumors, not to believe rumors, and not to spread rumors. It is reported that sonic boom refers to the explosion sound caused by the shock wave generated by the flying object when flying at supersonic speed and transmitted to the ground. When flying, the flying body squeezes and pushes away the air in front of it. When the flight speed exceeds the speed of sound, a shock wave (bow wave) is formed in the air at the head of the flying body, and a shock wave (stern wave) is also formed at the tail due to the rejoining of the displaced air. The bow wave and the stern wave advance together with the flying body at the same speed. When the shock wave reaches the ground and forms a roar, the waveform of the air pressure disturbance on the ground is N-shaped, which is called an N-shaped wave. It is a continuous process of rapid compression, followed by a slow expansion, and then another rapid compression. The overpressure (△P) during rapid compression is approximately 48 to 480 Pa (Pa).
