[Record-breaking South Korean exports] On September 6, the latest statistics from the Korean Customs Service showed that as of 1 p.m. on September 5, South Korea’s cumulative exports this year were US$709.4 billion, exceeding the historical high of US$709.3 billion last year. According to South Korean sources, despite facing severe external environments such as the situation in the Middle East this year, South Korea's main export categories have maintained growth, driven by semiconductors. In the first eight months of this year, South Korea's semiconductor exports were US$281.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 169.6%. Semiconductors accounted for 40.6% of overall exports.
