[UNCTAD Report: The development of digitally deliverable services in least developed countries lags behind] On September 7, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development recently released the latest "Global Trade Update" report, which pointed out that service trade is reshaping the global trade pattern, but the least developed countries are increasingly marginalized in digital trade. The report shows that in the past ten years, digital deliverable services have grown at an average annual rate of 7.1% and now account for 56% of global service exports. At the same time, the least developed countries’ share of global services trade fell to 0.6%, with digitally deliverable services accounting for only 16% of their services exports. The report believes that insufficient network connectivity and digital payment infrastructure are the main obstacles restricting the participation of these least developed countries in digital trade. The report calls for strengthening the construction of digital infrastructure to help developing economies, especially the least developed countries, more fully participate in global digital services trade.
