[Firmus and OpenAI have reached a multi-year cooperation to deploy AI computing power in Malaysia] On September 8, Australian AI infrastructure company Firmus announced a multi-year strategic cooperation with OpenAI. OpenAI will purchase dedicated AI computing power from Firmus’ two AI factories in Malaysia and become its anchor customer. With the implementation of this cooperation, Firmus has contracted a total computing power capacity of more than 900 megawatts. Firmus said that the company currently has 7 AI factories in Australia, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia, of which 2 have been put into operation and 5 are under construction. They plan to put them into service in the next 24 months. The relevant AI factory will deploy NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 system, and use NVIDIA DSX AI Factory platform and Firmus' self-developed HyperCube liquid cooling infrastructure. OpenAI said the new data center in Malaysia will help it meet growing product demand in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world.
