[Three departments issued a document to accelerate the provision of high-quality and efficient eye health services] On September 8, the National Health Commission, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention jointly issued the "Work Plan for Accelerating the Provision of High-Quality and Efficient Eye Health Services (2026-2030)". The plan requires focusing on key groups and key eye diseases, improving the full chain of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment services, and improving the eye health service system covering the entire life cycle to provide the people with fair, accessible, systematic, continuous, high-quality and efficient eye health services. The plan clearly states that by 2030, the refractive screening rate for children aged 0 to 6 years old and primary and secondary school students will steadily increase, the cataract surgery rate for a million people nationwide will exceed 4,000, and more than 95% of counties can independently carry out diagnosis and treatment of common eye diseases, and all counties can provide cataract surgery services.
