[Many institutions reduce their holdings of U.S. debt] On September 9, some major economies have reduced their holdings of U.S. debt. The latest data from the U.S. Treasury Department last month showed that Japan and the United Kingdom reduced their holdings of U.S. debt by $26.4 billion and $8.7 billion respectively in June this year. Türkiye cleared almost all of its U.S. debt holdings in March this year. As one of the largest pension funds in Europe, the Dutch civil servants pension fund ABP also lowered its allocation of U.S. debt in the first quarter of this year.
