[Latest super large-scale study: Drinks that are too hot may significantly increase the risk of esophageal cancer] September 9th, one of the world’s largest related studies to date found that drinking tea and coffee that is too hot may significantly increase the risk of esophageal cancer. The world's largest study of its kind, led by the University of Oxford, based on a 14-year follow-up of nearly 980,000 people in the UK, found that drinking hot drinks at "very hot" temperatures will increase the risk of esophageal squamous cell cancer by about three times. Cancer experts say the findings suggest people should cool down scalding tea and coffee to a suitable drinking temperature to reduce the risk of esophageal cancer.
