[Assistant Minister of Finance Chang Junhong attended the 2026 Second Series of Meetings of BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors] September 10th, 2026 The second 2026 BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting was held in Mumbai, India. The meeting discussed the global economic situation, the opportunities and challenges faced by the BRICS economies, and BRICS practical cooperation in finance and other topics, and reviewed and approved the "Joint Statement of the BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors". On the same day, the New Development Bank held a special meeting of the Board of Governors to review and approve the New Development Bank’s third five-year overall strategy (2027-2031). Assistant Minister of Finance Chang Junhong led a delegation to attend the above meeting and delivered a speech. Chang Junhong said that in the face of global uncertainty, BRICS countries should adhere to their original aspiration of uniting for self-improvement, strengthen unity and coordination, firmly defend multilateralism and international fairness and justice, jointly safeguard free trade, work together to build an open world economy, and make a louder "BRICS voice" in the world. All parties should deepen practical cooperation in the fields of macro policy coordination, development financing mobilization, infrastructure investment, and financial think tank network cooperation to inject new impetus into the global economy; promote the reform of the international economic governance system and effectively increase the representation and voice of emerging markets and developing economies. China is willing to work with all parties to support the New Development Bank in becoming bigger and stronger and promote the New Development Bank to successfully start its second "golden decade" of high-quality development. Chang Junhong also promoted the new and positive trend of China's economy, emphasizing that China will share development opportunities with countries in the "global south" and contribute positively to world economic growth. During the meeting, Chang Junhong conducted bilateral exchanges with representatives from many countries and principals of international organizations such as the New Development Bank, and exchanged views on strengthening multilateral and bilateral financial cooperation.
