[The Iraqi Foreign Minister had a phone call with the Iranian Foreign Minister to discuss the closure of border ports and the attack on Saudi Arabia] September 13th. On September 12th local time, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein had a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi. According to the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides discussed the reasons for the recent temporary closure of some border crossings with Iran and follow-up arrangements, and exchanged views on the attack on Saudi Arabia and the progress of related investigations. The two sides also discussed a planned regional conference in Oman. GCC member states, Iraq and Iran will participate in the meeting, focusing on issues related to the Strait of Hormuz. Hussein expressed that Iraq supports the holding of this meeting and will send a delegation to participate.
