[Ammonia gas leaked from a fertilizer plant in Iraq, killing 2 and injuring 50] On September 14th, the Iraqi Civil Defense Department issued a statement on the evening of the 13th stating that an ammonia gas leak occurred at a fertilizer company in the Khor al-Zubair area of Basra Province in southern Iraq that day, killing at least two people. The statement said that the civil defense department rushed to the scene and rescued 10 employees. About 50 others were injured due to inhalation of ammonia gas and have been sent to the hospital.
