[German companies’ investment in China increases while investment in the United States drops sharply] According to media reports, a study released by the German Institute for Economic Research (IW) on the 13th showed that in the first half of 2026, German companies’ investment in China increased by about one-third year-on-year, while investment in the United States fell sharply during the same period. According to an analysis of data from the German Bundesbank by the German Institute for Economic Research, from January to June this year, German companies' investment in China increased by approximately 5.6 billion euros (approximately 44 billion yuan at the current exchange rate) compared with the same period last year. This scale is basically the same as the average half-year investment level between 2020 and 2025. Research also shows that due to factors such as trade frictions and U.S. President Trump's increased tariffs, German companies' investment in the United States has dropped by nearly two-thirds, to approximately 4.3 billion euros (approximately 33.7 billion yuan).
