[Taking bribes of 57.42 million yuan Bi Jingquan, former member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was sentenced to 14 years in prison in the first instance. On September 15, the Intermediate People's Court of Jinan City, Shandong Province publicly pronounced the first instance verdict on Bi Jingquan, former member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and former deputy director of the Economic Committee, in the bribery case. The defendant Bi Jingquan was sentenced to 14 years in prison for accepting bribes and fined RMB 5 million. The property and profits obtained from Bi Jingquan's bribery crime were recovered and turned over to the state treasury in accordance with the law. The trial found that: from 1995 to 2025, the defendant Bi Jingquan used his position as deputy secretary-general of the State Council, party secretary and director of the State Food and Drug Administration, a minister-level cadre of the State Administration for Market Regulation, a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and deputy director of the Economic Committee, and a member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Through the convenience of his positions as deputy director of the Economic Committee, executive vice chairman and chairman of the China International Economic Exchange Center, as well as the convenient conditions for the formation of powers and status, he provided help to relevant units and individuals in matters such as business operations, administrative approvals, and project settlements, and illegally received property equivalent to more than 57.42 million yuan.
