[A gold mine collapsed in Sudan, killing at least 60 people] On September 16, a collapse occurred at the Alzala gold mine near Nahud City, West Kordofan State, western Sudan, on the 15th. At least 60 miners have been killed and many others are missing. As of now, the Sudanese government has not issued an official statement in this regard. Sudan is rich in mineral resources. Gold production and exports rank among the best among African countries and are one of its main sources of foreign exchange earnings. However, Sudan's gold production relies on traditional mining methods.
