[The United States plans to exclude Canadian products from federal government procurement] September 17th, the White House website reported on the 16th that the Trump administration plans to disqualify Canadian-origin products from participating in U.S. federal civilian government procurement. The United States called this move a countermeasure to Canada's "Buy Canadian" policy and accused Canada of restricting U.S. companies from entering its government procurement markets at all levels. The US claimed that Canadian companies could have participated in US procurement projects worth over US$280 billion. The United States has previously imposed additional tariffs on some Canadian alcoholic beverages, dairy products, and motor vehicle products.
