[The Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Hong Kong Exchanges, Dubai Monetary Authority and Nasdaq Dubai established a strategic working group to deepen financial market cooperation between the two places] September 10th, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, Dubai Financial Services Authority and Nasdaq Dubai jointly announced today (September 10) the establishment of a strategic working group to strengthen the connection between the financial markets of Hong Kong and the Dubai International Financial Center. The strategic working group is composed of regulators and exchanges from Hong Kong and the Dubai International Financial Center. It aims to explore opportunities and cooperative measures in sustainable finance, Islamic finance, innovation and the development and connectivity of the overall capital market, so as to help the two markets continue to grow and enhance their attractiveness. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Dubai Monetary Authority announced relevant cooperation at the climate finance conference co-organized today. The conference was held in Hong Kong, attracting more than 350 people from both places to participate in person and online.

[Hong Kong Monetary Authority: Total assets of the Exchange Fund were HK$4,403.7 billion, a decrease of HK$59.9 billion month-on-month] August 31, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced today that as of July 31, 2026, the total assets of the Exchange Fund were HK$4,403.7 billion, a decrease of HK$59.9 billion from the end of June 2026, of which Hong Kong dollar assets decreased by HK$77.2 billion, and foreign currency assets increased by HK$17.3 billion. The decrease in Hong Kong dollar assets was mainly due to the decrease in the month-end balance of Exchange Fund bills and bonds that were subscribed but not yet settled.

[Hong Kong Monetary Authority: Total money supply M2 increased by 10.2% year-on-year in July] On August 31, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority issued a document stating that Hong Kong dollar money supply M2 and M3 both increased by 1.0% in July, up 5.6% and 5.5% respectively compared with the same period last year. The seasonally adjusted Hong Kong dollar money supply M1 fell by 0.5% in July and fell by 0.6% compared with the same period last year, partly reflecting investment-related activities. The total money supply, M2 and M3, both increased by 1.1% in July. Compared with the same period last year, M2 and M3 both increased by 10.2%.
