Abstract:
During Gamescom 2026, ASUS officially launched ROG Rapture GT-BN98 and positioned it as the world’s first Wi‑Fi 8 e-sports router. This product uses a quad-band Wi‑Fi 8 architecture and is built based on the 802.11bn standard that is still in the draft stage. The body is equipped with eight external antennas. The overall design continues the aggressive e-sports style of the ROG series.
In terms of hardware, ROG Rapture GT-BN98 is equipped with a quad-core processor clocked at 2.6GHz, equipped with 256MB flash memory and 2GB memory. Its nominal total wireless throughput can reach up to 25,000Mbps: the maximum rate of the 2.4GHz band is 1,376Mbps; the two 5GHz bands can both reach 5,764Mbps; the 6GHz band can provide a maximum transmission rate of 11,529Mbps and support 320MHz ultra-wide channels.
Wired connection configuration is also suitable for users with high bandwidth requirements. The router provides a 10G WAN/LAN multiplexing interface, a 10G LAN interface, a 2.5G WAN/LAN multiplexing interface, three 2.5G LAN interfaces, and a Gigabit LAN interface; it is also equipped with USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 interfaces. The device supports multiple working modes such as routers, AiMesh nodes, access points, repeaters and media bridges, making it easy to access home network environments of different sizes and structures.
In terms of software functions, ASUS has added Adaptive QoE adaptive network optimization technology to ROG Rapture GT-BN98, which can dynamically allocate bandwidth based on real-time network status; the Wi‑Fi Insight function continuously monitors each wireless frequency band and performs interference detection in the background. For online gaming scenarios, ASUS has also integrated the third-party GTNet service to select a more reliable path for game data traffic to connect to the game server.
In terms of security and network management, the machine is equipped with AiProtection protection function and supports advertising and tracker blocking. The Guest Network Pro guest network feature can create up to five SSIDs, which can be used for IoT device isolation, VPN connections, and parental control. Currently, Asus has not announced the launch time and price of ROG Rapture GT-BN98.
