Abstract:

According to the Ping An Shiyan WeChat public account, Ms. Wang, a citizen, recently purchased an iPhone 18 Pro worth 11,999 yuan. After receiving the logistics and delivery news, she shared her unboxing expectations on the social platform and posted screenshots of the order. The order number and logistics order number were also exposed on the Internet.

On October 6, the mobile phones have arrived at a logistics park in Shiyan City, Hubei Province, but have not yet been sorted to various express delivery sites. Criminals place orders for "errands" remotely and go to the logistics park to pick up the phone based on the logistics order number. The courier called Ms. Wang to verify the pick-up situation. Ms. Wang, who was sleeping soundly, did not ask further questions, simply responded and hung up the phone. The courier mistakenly thought that Ms. Wang agreed to pick up the parcel, so he did not strictly verify the identity of the pick-up person and directly handed the phone to the "errand" rider.

At noon on the 6th, Ms. Wang found that the online shopping platform showed that the package had been signed for and contacted the courier to inquire about the situation. The courier discovered an abnormality when reviewing the package receipt and called the police. They didn't know that at this time, the mobile phone had already been turned over several times and was being sent to Henan via express delivery.

After in-depth investigation, the police found that the matter was far more complicated than imagined. It turned out that after the criminals pretended to receive the mobile phones through the "errands" riders, they continued to use the "relay errands" method to transfer the stolen goods: they placed orders on the online platform and called five local "errands" riders. These riders did not contact or communicate with each other. They only followed the online order requirements and placed the packages at the hotel front desk and other places. After several rounds of circulation, the package was delivered to a courier station on Dongfeng Avenue, packed and sent to Kaifeng, Henan.

After working nonstop until 4 a.m., the police finally found out the tracking number of the express delivery to Henan. At this time, the package has left Shiyan and is waiting for transshipment at the Wujiashan station in Wuhan. The police immediately contacted the express delivery company to intercept the package, and the express delivery station handled it overnight and successfully stopped the package in transit. At noon on October 7, the intercepted mobile phone was transported back to Shiyan. The police went to the express delivery station to retrieve the package and returned it to Ms. Wang in person.

Police reminder:

Citizens, please note: Do not post express order, logistics order number, pickup code and other information in Moments or short video platforms to avoid leakage of personal information. When you receive a call from a courier staff to verify pickup information, do not hang up as a harassment or fraud call. You should carefully check the information. Try to sign for the valuables in person in person. If you entrust others to pick them up, you must make an authorization statement with the courier in advance.

Express delivery practitioners, please note: when encountering valuables or high-value packages, identity verification must be strictly implemented. In the face of "errands" and other third-party pickup scenarios, be sure to confirm authorization with the recipient, avoid releasing the package directly without verification, and maintain express delivery security.
