Apple CEO John Ternus officially joined the social platform X and posted the first update on his personal account. As expected, this short message with only the five letters "hello" quickly gained a lot of attention. Apple's successive CEOs usually have certain social attributes, and in modern times, this often means having social media accounts. Therefore, as Ternus officially took over as the helm of Apple, he also opened his own X account.
Currently, the account @johnternus is online and made a public appearance on Ternus’ first official working day as Apple CEO. According to the account information, the account was created privately as early as June 2026, but has only posted one update so far, which contains "hello" written in all lowercase letters.
It's unclear whether Ternus is discreetly trying to get into social media or whether he's deliberately drawing on Apple's tradition of using greetings when users turn on new devices. Considering he had little previous record of social media activity, it's likely a combination of both.
This five-letter post brought huge attention to the account within a very short period of time after it was posted. As of the time of the report, this post had been online for about 35 minutes and had received approximately 748,000 views, 31,000 likes, 3,600 reposts, and 5,000 comments.
At the same time, Ternus’ account already has about 34,600 fans. Although this number is far from the 19.8 million fans that Tim Cook has accumulated, Ternus' account has just started operating after all.
Currently, Ternus only follows three X accounts, namely Apple, Tim Cook and Greg Joswiak.
It remains to be seen how Ternus will use this new public channel in the future. However, given his lack of previous experience posting updates on social platforms, the content on his account may be more in line with the company's established stance rather than making overly bold or sensational remarks.
