Abstract:
Apple officially completed the CEO handover on September 1, local time. John Ternus succeeded Tim Cook as Apple CEO, and the latter became executive chairman. Ternus issued his first internal memo to Apple employees since taking office that day. In the letter, he thanked employees for their blessings and spoke highly of Cook's contribution to Apple during his tenure, saying that Apple is very lucky to have a CEO who leads the company with values, integrity, kindness and humanity. He also said he was pleased that Cook would continue as executive chairman.
Ternus said that he is deeply honored to serve as CEO of "the greatest company in the world" and is full of expectations for Apple's future development. He revealed that Apple will hold a "large-scale and very exciting" new product launch event next week and thanked employees for their efforts in the launch.
In addition to the upcoming launch events, Ternus also said that he is also looking forward to the products that Apple is developing, as well as the new products that the team will jointly conceive and create in the future that have not yet been imagined. He said that no team is more suitable to build the future with him than Apple.
Ternus joined Apple in 2001. He had been in charge of the hardware engineering department for a long time and served as senior vice president of hardware engineering. Ternus has a stronger product and engineering background than Cook, who has a background in operations management.
During this management transition process, Apple’s leadership team also made adjustments. Johnny Slugi is now Apple's chief hardware officer and has taken over the hardware engineering team previously led by Ternus; Laura Legros, the former vice president of engineering and Ternus' long-term partner, will return to Apple; the product design team has also been reorganized.
On his last day as CEO, Cook told employees that he felt "incredibly relieved" to leave Apple to the leadership of "such a smart, brilliant and capable John".
Ternus has appeared on stage at Apple conferences many times before, but the "Surprise and Shine" iPhone special event held on September 9 will be his first conference as Apple CEO.

Dear colleagues:
Today is my first day as CEO. I would like to write a brief letter to thank everyone for their best wishes. I also want to sincerely thank Tim Cook for the wealth of knowledge and experience he shared during this transition, and more importantly, for his contributions to Apple over the years. We are very lucky to have such a values-oriented, high-moral, and humanistic CEO. We have all benefited greatly from this and I am extremely grateful that he will serve as our Executive Chairman.
I am honored to join the greatest company in the world in this role, and I look forward to our future growth. Next week we are launching a blockbuster product that is sure to wow everyone. Thank you everyone for all your efforts on this.
I'm equally excited about what's ahead, both the great products we're developing and the products we haven't conceived yet but will conceive and create together. There is no team in the world that I am more proud of.
