Abstract:
An update on Apple’s official website shows that John Ternus has officially become the CEO of Apple and also serves as a director of the company. In addition, Tim Cook's position was changed to executive chairman of Apple.
According to Apple's official website, John joined Apple's product design team in 2001 and became vice president of the Hardware Engineering Department in 2013. In 2021, he joined the executive team as senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. Throughout his time at Apple, John oversaw hardware engineering efforts on a variety of groundbreaking products and was instrumental in the launch of multiple new product lines, including iPads and AirPods, as well as multiple generations of iPhones, Macs, and Apple Watches.
In addition, John also led most of Apple's projects in the field of reliability and durability, introducing new technologies that made Apple products significantly resistant to damage. He also drove Apple's innovations in materials and hardware design that reduced the carbon footprint of its products, including the development of a new recycled aluminum compound that has been used across multiple product lines; the use of 3D printed titanium in Apple Watch Ultra; and advancements in repairability that have extended the lifespan of multiple Apple products.
