Abstract:
Developer ShawMakesMagic recently launched the browser game "Tic Tac Cheat". Players need to play tic-tac-toe against an AI, but this opponent will constantly break the rules and try to win every game. The game has recently attracted the attention of many players because of this.
ShawMakesMagic demonstrated this work on the X platform and stated that it made a tic-tac-toe game in which "AI will win every time". After the player completes the move, the AI will respond immediately and quickly start using methods that are not allowed by conventional gameplay.
The AI may ignore the position the player has selected, and may also directly overwrite the X placed by the player. A report on the player's actions will also be displayed below the chessboard, and the AI will also taunt after gaining an advantage or winning.
Some players tried to counterattack in unconventional ways, including using the browser's "inspect element" function to modify the page and letting other AI agents assist in the game. There are also players who keep challenging again, hoping that the opponent in the game will eventually give up, but it will not stop actively.
Players have given mixed responses to this design. Some people questioned why they were still continuing while challenging repeatedly; others recognized the creativity of the gameplay while expressing dissatisfaction with this virtual opponent who continued to cheat. At present, this set of winning mechanisms that do not follow the rules is the core of the game's attention.
