Abstract:
On October 12, Chery Automobile issued a statement last night. Recently, a vehicle problem with the 2023 OMODA 5 occurred in Malaysia, which did not involve personal injury. After investigation, this batch of vehicles may have insufficient welding strength at the local welding position of the rear axle longitudinal arm. In extreme cases, there is a risk of weld tearing. This structure model has been discontinued before. Chery's Malaysian subsidiary has cooperated with the relevant arrangements of JPJ (Malaysian Land Transport Authority) and
has initiated a recall of the affected OMODA 5 models
.
Chery Automobile stated that in line with the principle of prudence,
it has launched a special risk investigation of the same batch of OMODA 5 models in domestic and related markets
and has maintained active communication with regulatory agencies.
Recently, a black 2023 OMODA was spotted in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. 5 The trailing arm of the rear axle was torn apart while driving, and the rear axle and the two rear wheels separated directly from the vehicle body. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. Fortunately, no casualties were caused in this accident.

It is worth mentioning that this is no longer OMODA 5 This is the first time that the rear axle fracture problem occurred in Malaysia. As early as 2024, a unilateral rear axle fracture incident of the same model broke out. At that time, Chery also implemented a recall to inspect 600 vehicles.
