Abstract:
On the opening night of BlizzCon 2026, a big official announcement came as scheduled. Blizzard Entertainment President Johanna Farris took the stage to announce that the "Diablo" animated series is currently being developed and produced by Netflix. Faris said: "We have been working hard to find top creative partners to expand more IP stories. Currently, we have many exciting projects in progress in each of our core universes, and today we are happy to announce one of the special projects for you."
"We are very excited to announce that we are cooperating with Netflix to create a new "Diablo" animated series. I am a veteran player of "Diablo" and I deeply love the rich dark atmosphere of the world of Asylum. I am very much looking forward to the official launch of this project."

The above is all the information currently known. The official release date has not yet been announced, nor has it been revealed which animation studio will be responsible for the Netflix "Diablo" series. But it is worth noting that this is not the first time news of Xbox and Netflix cooperation has spread.
About a month after new Xbox head Asha Sharma took over, there were reports that Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters expressed support for her. Sharma and Peters are said to have "exchanged ideas" about potential collaborations, including bundling Netflix and Xbox Game Pass into a unified subscription service.
Also in July 2026, Sharma proposed a strategic plan to strengthen Xbox's cross-media layout, covering "movies, television, consumer peripherals, brand sponsorships, offline experiences, and establishing new cooperation globally, including the Chinese market." This direction was undoubtedly inspired by the success of Amazon's Fallout series.
It is not difficult to see that the Netflix "Diablo" animated series is another step in Xbox's layout in the cross-media field. And judging from Sharma’s meeting with Netflix’s co-CEO, among the other “exciting developments” mentioned by Faris in the official announcement, there may be another Netflix cooperation project that will be announced soon.
