Abstract:
Apple announced that it will introduce a new "Made for iPhone Duo" logo in the App Store to help users identify apps and games that have been optimized for the iPhone Duo folding screen form. Apps that receive this logo can make fuller use of the dual internal and external screens of iPhone Duo and the larger display space, thereby providing an experience that is different from traditional iPhones.

Apple showed multiple adaptation cases. Netflix has been optimized for iPhone Duo. Users can watch complete film and television content on the large-sized inner screen after unfolding, while browsing short video information streams on the outer screen to achieve natural switching between different screens.
Amazon Prime Video also takes advantage of the device's foldable form factor. When the phone is used in a semi-folded state, video content is displayed on the upper half of the screen, while actor information and related information can be displayed on the lower half, providing a richer movie-watching experience.
In office scenarios, Microsoft Word and Outlook will bring usage methods close to desktop computer levels. Word can display formatting editing tools and document content simultaneously, while Outlook can display the inbox and email body side by side on the same screen to improve work efficiency.
The video conferencing platform Zoom has also been optimized for the device, allowing users to view the video conferencing screen and shared content simultaneously on the expanded inner screen for a better collaboration experience.
Apple said that the applications that have been adapted include Paramount Plus, NYT Cooking, Yelp, Lyft, United Airlines and many other services. However, some apps that have claimed to support iPhone Duo still have some compatibility issues. For example, during media testing, applications such as Instagram still experienced individual software defects and display abnormalities.
In order to further promote the folding screen ecosystem, Apple plans to launch an editor-recommended area specifically for iPhone Duo in the App Store this Friday to focus on displaying adapted applications. At the same time, more app updates for iPhone Duo will be launched in the next few months.
As Apple’s first foldable screen smartphone, iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 and will be officially released this Friday. Apple has previously reminded consumers that the amount of inventory available for on-site purchase in offline stores will be limited during the initial launch period.
