Abstract:
Mozilla is testing a new artificial intelligence feature called "Smart Window" for the Firefox browser, which can understand web content and help users automatically fill in online forms, thereby reducing the need to repeatedly enter information.

According to the demo shown by Mozilla, this feature operates based on the sidebar form. Users can interact with AI directly through natural language, such as asking it to fill out job applications, book services, or complete various online registration processes. AI will analyze the form fields in the current web page and automatically complete the filling based on the information provided by the user.
In actual demonstrations, Smart Window was able to read the job application page on the job search website, extract relevant information from resumes and other materials, and automatically fill in the corresponding fields with name, contact information, work experience, etc. The system will also display the information to be submitted to the user before filling in, allowing the user to check and modify the content.
Mozilla stated that Smart Window is not just a chat robot, but hopes to become an intelligent assistant that can understand and operate web content. Unlike traditional browser AI sidebars, which are mainly used for search and Q&A, this feature is designed to interact directly with web page elements to help users complete more practical tasks.
Privacy is still one of Mozilla’s key priorities. The company said the feature will adhere to Firefox's long-standing privacy protection principles and be as transparent as possible about how data is used and processed. Users can control the scope of information accessed by AI and decide which data can be used to complete tasks.
In recent years, many browser manufacturers and artificial intelligence companies have been trying to move AI from providing information to performing tasks. For example, help users shop, fill out forms, book services, and manage online affairs. Mozilla’s launch of Smart Window shows that it is actively participating in the competition for a new generation of AI browser experience.
Currently, Smart Window is still in the testing phase. Mozilla has not announced the specific time when this feature will be officially opened to all Firefox users, but the direction it shows shows that in the future the browser is expected to further evolve from a simple information access tool to an intelligent agent platform that can proactively help users complete network tasks.
