Abstract:

With more than a month to go before its official release, Rockstar Games' highly anticipated open-world masterpiece "Grand Theft Auto 6" (GTA 6) has already demonstrated amazing market appeal. According to the latest estimates from market analysis agency Sensor Tower, as of October 13, the global digital version of the game has exceeded 6 million pre-orders, and is expected to bring in approximately US$594 million in revenue, making it one of the most high-profile pre-sale products in the game industry in recent years.

Data shows that the total number of pre-orders for the digital version of "GTA 6" is approximately 6.08 million, of which the PlayStation platform has an absolute advantage. PlayStation players contributed approximately 4.51 million pre-orders, accounting for 74% of the total; Xbox players contributed approximately 1.57 million pre-orders, accounting for 26%.

In terms of revenue composition, the PlayStation platform contributed approximately US$441 million in pre-order revenue, while the Xbox platform contributed approximately US$153 million. Although these data are not officially announced by Rockstar or its parent company Take-Two, but are based on estimates from third-party market analysts, they still reflect the huge market demand for "GTA 6".

What is even more interesting is that Sensor Tower conducted a comparative analysis of many blockbuster games in the past six years over the same period. The results show that in the pre-order stage at the same time point before release, the performance of "GTA 6" has far exceeded all tracked large-scale works.

Analysis pointed out that the current pre-order scale of "GTA 6" is 148% higher than the previous strongest performance of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II". The pre-order data of well-known masterpieces such as "Diablo IV", "Hogwarts Legacy", "Marvel's Spider-Man 2", "Cyberpunk 2077", "God of War: Ragnarok" and "Starry Sky" in the same time period are significantly behind "GTA 6".

The report also shows that the high-priced version has become the main purchase among players. The $100 Ultimate Edition accounted for the vast majority of pre-orders. Even if this high-end version is counted separately, its sales curve is still much higher than any similar game product in recent years.

However, analysts also caution that these figures have certain statistical limitations. The currently announced pre-order data mainly refers to digital version sales and does not include the number of physical version pre-orders. In addition, the data used for historical comparison mainly comes from digital pre-order records in the US market, so there are differences between different statistical calibers.

Despite this, many analytical institutions still believe that "GTA 6" is very likely to create the largest launch record in the history of the gaming industry and even the entire entertainment industry. Analysts previously surveyed by industry media predict that the game may sell more than 30 million to 50 million copies in its first year of release.

As the official release date in November approaches, "GTA 6" is not only a game product, but also the focus of the entire entertainment industry. Judging from the current pre-sale performance, this work that has been waiting for many years is rapidly moving towards breaking multiple industry records.
