Shared motorcycles were maliciously "turned upside down", is this a bad internet meme?

📅 2026-10-15

Abstract:

Recently, images of shared motorcycles being dumped upside down in many places have been widely circulated on social media. Many netizens expressed confusion about this: Where did the behavior of "discharging electric bicycles upside down" come from? Why does it appear in so many places?

The bad meme of "motorcycle in reverse" originally came from a short video platform anchor

According to Jiangsu news reports, the bad joke about overturning a shared motorcycle originally came from a short video platform anchor. The anchor became famous on the Internet for repeatedly vandalizing public property and harassing others. Reversing an e-bike is his latest live broadcast.

Subsequently, his behavior of discharging the electric bicycle upside down was imitated by some people, and gradually evolved into a bad internet meme, and eventually became a follow-up behavior against shared electric bicycles.

"Motorcycle placed upside down" is not funny!

Meituan shared motorcycle city manager Yu Jixin said that they have also discovered "motorcycles lying upside down" in many cities across the country. Yu Jixin said that shared motorcycles are an asset-heavy industry, and the vehicle cost, body and battery costs are high. Vehicle inversion is mostly violent operation, which can easily cause vehicle failure and vehicle body damage.

Behind the inversion of motorcycles is the sudden increase in operation and maintenance pressure on enterprises. Yu Jixin said, "In addition to daily inspection and maintenance, we now also need to have a group of strong male colleagues responsible for handling overturned, stacked, and inverted shared electric vehicles. The regular placement of each vehicle consumes a lot of time and manpower, and also affects daily maintenance."

Wen Xin, associate professor at Nanjing University of Communication, pointed out that the essence of the phenomenon of "motorcycle rolling upside down" is the erosion of bad Internet memes from the language level to the behavioral level. Bad Internet memes that are overly entertaining, extreme, and vulgar not only pollute Internet civilization, but also have a serious negative impact on young people's language expression, behavioral habits, and ways of thinking. "The platform is the first gateway. The platform needs to optimize the algorithm recommendation mechanism and actively intercept the spread of this type of behavior."

Many places have taken action against the behavior of "reverse motorcycles"

China Youth Daily noticed that so far, Tiantai County in Zhejiang Province, Pu'er in Yunnan Province, Tai'an in Shandong Province and many other places have begun to take action against the behavior of "reversing motorcycles."

On October 4, three drunk men in Tai'an, Shandong Province imitated online videos and turned their shared motorcycles upside down and kicked them down on the roadside. They were administratively detained by the local public security department in accordance with the law.

In the early morning of the same day, Li, a citizen of Gaotang, Liaocheng, Shandong, out of fun and eye-catching mentality, imitated the "tricky" short video and placed three shared motorcycles upside down. On October 9, the Gaotang County Public Security Bureau imposed an administrative penalty of 800 yuan on Li in accordance with the law.

The police reminded that shared motorcycles are public property. Moving, inverting, and stacking shared bicycles without authorization not only disrupts the order of the city, but also causes potential safety hazards such as tripping passers-by and affecting vehicle traffic. It is an illegal act that disrupts order in public places.

The Internet is not a lawless place. Don’t blindly follow the Internet’s various meme challenges, and don’t shoot or post videos that disrupt public order or damage public facilities in order to gain traffic.
