Abstract:
A few weeks after the iPhone 18 Pro series was launched, some users began to report on social platforms that light or pink marks appeared around the camera of the burgundy model, and similar feedback was reported on the black model. The relevant pictures mainly come from Reddit users' posts. There is currently no evidence that this is a common phenomenon, and it has not yet been confirmed whether the traces are surface fading or visual differences caused by oil stains, residues, etc.

Some users said that the color near the camera lens ring is lighter than the surrounding body, and the difference can still be seen after cleaning; but other users believe that some pictures may just show fingerprints or sebum, which will be reduced after wiping. GSMArena said that the burgundy iPhone 18 Pro Max it tested had no abnormalities yet, but the test machine was used less time and was rarely used outdoors. The outlet speculates that ultraviolet rays in sunlight may be related to fading, but there are currently no experiments or official explanations to confirm this speculation.
This is not the first time similar online complaints have surfaced about the Apple Pro series. Last year, some iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max users also reported discoloration of the cosmic orange body and dark blue body; at that time, there was also no clear evidence of the scope of the impact or the unified cause. Apple has not publicly confirmed that the iPhone 18 Pro has coating defects, nor has it announced a repair or replacement plan in response to this batch of feedback.
The iPhone 18 Pro series colors listed on Apple’s official website include black, silver, glacier color and new burgundy. It also states that the body shell is made of aluminum, 85% of which is recycled aluminum. At this stage, fading feedback is concentrated on burgundy and black models, but the scattered photos and user descriptions on social platforms are not enough to determine whether it is a batch quality problem. The actual cause still needs Apple's response or more cases to be verified.
