Apple's new mobile phone iPhone 18 Pro series has been exposed to the "Panic Full" phenomenon where the device suddenly shuts down and then automatically restarts. Users have reported related problems one after another.
According to industry insiders on September 20, in the iPhone user community "Ashamo" with approximately 2.41 million members, posts about iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max encountering Panic Full phenomenon appeared one after another.
A user said that
After entering the "Recently Deleted" item of a banking application or photo application that requires Face ID authentication, the device shutdown phenomenon can be reproduced by repeatedly failing Face ID recognition.
The user stated that he tried to authenticate by covering the Face ID sensor part with his hand. After repeatedly letting go and covering the face again, a "Please try again" prompt appeared on the screen, and then the device automatically restarted. After many tests, the same phenomenon appears repeatedly.
There are other users in the community who posted, "Can Panic Full on iPhone 18 Pro be solved?" "Go to the Apple Service Center due to Panic Full symptoms on 18 Pro Max", "Panic Full occurred while watching YouTube", etc.
Panic Full refers to the phenomenon where the iPhone automatically shuts down and restarts unexpectedly after stopping responding.
Users can check whether there are log records starting with "panic-full" in "Settings-Privacy and Security-Analysis and Improvement-Analyze Data". The iPhone 16 has previously confirmed that when Panic Full occurs, relevant records will be left in the analysis data in the same way.The technology YouTube channel "ZUYONI" also stated that after receiving reports from iPhone 18 Pro users, it checked the product in use and confirmed that Panic Full occurred.
The channel said that it has not been encountered in daily use, but the iPhone will restart under certain circumstances: when viewing the photo album in the recycle bin, or when the financial application fails to recognize Face ID and then retries immediately and fails again, Panic Full will occur and cause a shutdown.
Similar cases have also occurred in other overseas markets. A user posted on the American online community Reddit that less than a day after purchasing the iPhone 18 Pro Max, it restarted three times while using Face ID and once while running Apple Wallet. Other iPhone 18 Pro users also claimed that Panic logs were repeatedly generated during the Face ID authentication process.
This is not the first time that a new iPhone product has caused Panic Full controversy.
In the early stages of release, the iPhone 16 series, which will be launched in 2024, is also dominated by iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. There have been cases of devices automatically shutting down or restarting.
Since then, Apple has fixed the unexpected restart problem of some iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models through the iOS 18.1 update.
